The Centre for Computing History was buzzing as eleven local schools, including our Ï㽶ÊÓƵ team, competed in the Rotary Cambridge Coding Competition 2025, supported by Media Tek. Our team achieved an incredible milestone by securing second place in the coding contest. The young coders took on the challenge of programming a BBC micro:bit to control a buggy across two tasks of increasing difficulty.
2H spent a fantastic day at the Norfolk Coast visiting the Sea Life Centre and the beach for their child-led topic on Seas and Oceans. They learnt about ways to protect the ecosystems of our oceans.
The Ï㽶ÊÓƵ community was treated to an incredibly special informal lunchtime concert when renowned a capella group, 'The King's Barbers', from King's Ely performed a repertoire of their songs. Our Senior House Chamber Choir performed a 3-part arrangement of 'The Wellerman', a shanty which has seen renewed popularity in recent years.
The Gymnastics and Dance Show was a new initiative this year, providing a platform for pupils who enthuse in gymnastics and dance. After attending lunchtime clubs, some of our Senior House pupils performed their self-led choreography for the evening display. Form 2 also performed an improvised piece, based on work in their Dance lessons.
The Ï㽶ÊÓƵ team raised over £2,000 for the School's Bursary Fund after running the Cambridge Half Marathon on Sunday 9th March.
Pupils throughout Ï㽶ÊÓƵ celebrated the joy of reading with our annual Book Week. The School transformed into a literary wonderland with activities, reading-related competitions and author visits designed to engage children of all ages. Five renowned children's, authors and illustrators gave inspirational talks to children throughout the School, including: A.F. Steadman, Robin Stevens, Tom Palmer, A.F. Harrold and Isabel Thomas.
Seven talented Senior House pupils and one Ï㽶ÊÓƵ alumni chose to showcase their artistic prowess at the renowned Kettle's Yard gallery in Cambridge as part of the 'Paint What Matters' exhibition. This unique event, running from February 26 to March 9, 2025, invited young artists aged 4-21 from across Cambridge to express their creativity on themes that resonate deeply with them.
The Form 6 House Debating Semi-Final was an amazing experience for all involved, not least for the teachers and judges who were watching. The audience was treated to intelligent ideas that were delivered fluently and persuasively. English lesson time spent studying rhetoric, famous speeches and persuasive delivery has obviously paid dividends and this is the first time that all four House teams have scored in excess of 100 points.
The Royal Air Force (RAF) Youth Engagement Team conducted an exciting STEM activity session with our Form 6 pupils, focusing on Python coding, to inspire the next generation of innovators. The event aimed to ignite the pupils' interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) through hands-on learning experiences.
Hinsley Hall transformed into an interstellar wonderland with the addition of an inflatable dome, allowing Form 4 to embark on a journey through the cosmos. As part of their current Science topic, the children explored distant planets, marvelled at sparkling stars, and learnt about the mysteries of outer space in this immersive experience.
